Miami-Dade County Public Schools let out for the summer on Thursday, June 3, 2027. Coral Gables families have two anchors for the summer: the city’s camps, most of them at the War Memorial Youth Center, and the Venetian Pool, the 1923 spring-fed pool on De Soto Boulevard.
What this means for you
- The city had not posted 2027 camp weeks when we checked; its page still showed 2025 sessions.
- Register at playgables.com or at the Youth Center; residents need two proofs of residency.
- The Venetian Pool is closed Mondays and sells out when it hits capacity; book online.

Junior Lifeguard camp runs 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with early drop-off at 7:30 a.m. and late pickup until 6 p.m.; each age group is capped at 20 and the program includes lunch and snacks. Lunch is not provided at most other camps, and the city charges a late pickup fee for every 15 minutes after a camp ends.
Session weeks. The city’s page still listed the eight weeks of its 2025 summer (Monday, June 9, to Friday, Aug. 1) when we checked. We will post the 2027 weeks when the city does. In 2025 the city held a Summer Camp Open House at the Youth Center in late April, with tours and registration help (city listing).
Registering. Sign up online at playgables.com or in person at the Youth Center (8 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays, 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays), the Venetian Pool, the Biltmore Tennis Center, the Salvadore Park Tennis Center or the Country Club. Resident rates need two state-issued proofs of Coral Gables residency, one with a photo ID; grade-based camps need a report card and age-based camps a birth certificate or passport.
Camp for all. Families of children with disabilities, medical concerns or other needs can ask the city’s PLAY for All team for a written accommodation plan: PlayForAll@coralgables.com.

Splash pads and more water
We found no splash pad on the City of Coral Gables parks pages. Matheson Hammock Park, 9610 Old Cutler Road, has a beach and an atoll pool flushed by the tide on Biscayne Bay, open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily with a parking fee (city listing).
Other summer camps in town
Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, 10901 Old Cutler Road, runs a nature summer camp; its camp page lists June 22 to July 31 without a year. Check there for 2027 dates.
Hurricane season
Hurricane season runs June 1 to Nov. 30, so it overlaps the whole camp season. Ask your camp how it handles storm closures, and see our hurricane prep guide.
