What is open and closed
| Thanksgiving, Thu., Nov. 26 | Fri., Nov. 27 | |
|---|---|---|
| City of Coral Gables offices | Closed | Closed |
| Miami-Dade County Public Schools | Holiday | Recess day, no school |
The city’s holiday calendar lists both days as city holidays. For schools, the School Board approved a Fall Recess for students and 10-month employees on Monday to Wednesday, Nov. 23-25, according to its school board announcement, so Miami-Dade public school students are off the whole week.
Police and fire service do not stop for the holiday. In an emergency call 911; the Coral Gables Police Department’s non-emergency line is 305-442-1600.
Trash and recycling
The city’s Solid Waste Division does not publish a holiday pickup schedule on its garbage collection page. Call Public Works at 305-460-5000 before you put carts out in Thanksgiving week. Your regular days and rules are on our trash and recycling guide.
Turkey trots and community events
We found no in-person turkey trot inside Coral Gables with 2026 dates on an organizer’s own page, and no city-run community Thanksgiving dinner. We will add them here as organizers publish them.
