The city’s pet-friendly park rules

From the city’s posted rules:

  • Bring dogs at your own risk; owners are legally responsible for their dogs’ behavior at all times.
  • Dogs must be leashed while in park property.
  • Clean up dog waste properly and immediately.
  • Supervise your dog at all times, and remove an aggressive dog immediately.
  • No dogs in heat, no sick dogs and no puppies under 4 months of age.

The leash ordinance. Section 10-26 of the Coral Gables City Code, “Dogs running at large prohibited; leashes required,” bars dogs from running loose on the city’s streets, parks and other public places. Read it in the City Code on Municode, Chapter 10, Animals.

Patios and downtown

The City of Coral Gables lists both Giralda Plaza and Miracle Mile as pet friendly. Giralda Plaza is the 100 block of Giralda Avenue, a pedestrian street of restaurants and cafes with outdoor seating. Each restaurant decides whether dogs may join you at a table, so ask the host first.

Walks and trails

On Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, Commissioner Melissa Castro and the Doggie Walk Club led a registered community dog walk from City Hall to Giralda Plaza (city listing). Leashed dogs can use the city’s sidewalks and the pet-friendly greens; see our walking and biking trails guide for routes.

Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden lists “Dog Dates” among its weekly activities, with tickets through its online ticket portal; check the garden’s dates before you bring a dog.
