Coral Gables walking and biking trails: the 11-mile Old Cutler Trail, the Commodore Trail, The Underline, park paths and the city's bike rules.

Last checked Oct. 8, 2026. Sources: Miami-Dade County’s bike trail maps, the City of Coral Gables Bicycling Coral Gables page and parks amenities list (PDF), and The Underline. County trail information: 311.

Coral Gables has no single big loop trail of its own. The longer routes are county trails: the paved Old Cutler Trail along Old Cutler Road, the Commodore Trail that links to it, and The Underline beneath Metrorail. Inside the city, about 25 parks and open spaces have paved paths.

Rules of the road (city)

  • Sidewalk riding is allowed, except on Miracle Mile; yield to pedestrians.
  • Ride with traffic on the right half of the road.
  • White front light and red rear light from dusk to dawn.
  • Helmets for riders and passengers under 16.

The county map marks shared-road sections and restroom and water stops. Two good stopping points inside Coral Gables are Matheson Hammock Park, 9610 Old Cutler Road (open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., parking fee per car), and Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, 10901 Old Cutler Road (10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily).

Commodore Trail

The county’s paved Commodore Trail runs 5 miles and links to the Old Cutler Trail at its southern end, per the county’s Commodore Trail map (PDF).

The Underline

The Underline is a 10-mile linear park and urban trail beneath Metrorail from Brickell to Dadeland. Its Segment 4, from SW 27th Avenue to Douglas Road, opened with a ribbon cutting that included Coral Gables Mayor Vince Lago, bringing the trail to five continuous miles (Friends of The Underline). The City of Coral Gables contributed to construction and operations, according to the group. Douglas Road Metrorail station is where the free Coral Gables Trolley routes start; see our getting around guide.

Group rides and walks

Bike Walk Coral Gables runs community rides; in October 2026 it leads a costume bike tour to Pinewood Cemetery on Sunday, Oct. 18 (Bike Walk Coral Gables). The Coral Gables Museum and Coral Gables Art Cinema are the city’s first nationally recognized Bicycle Friendly Businesses.

Bike parking

Bikes in the business district must be parked in marked spaces, not against buildings or where they block pedestrians. The city installs bike racks for businesses free of charge; request one through the city’s mobile app. Free bike parking is provided at city-sponsored events.
